Preparation work for final piece.

I have started to combine prints as like the contrast in the composition. Here I wanted to expand on the idea of view point and contrast. I gave the figure a textured, cut out background which stands out compared to the smooth clean background of the museum.

Here I wanted to demonstarte the difference in height, during a visit to the V&A therefore i created a lino cut of school children pointing up to a tall statchue. To enhance this fact I carved vertical directional lines to emphasise on the reaching up aspect.

Here I practiced the same technique just used different colours, to see if it affected the mood, or made it look more clear cut.

At the begining of this project I wanted to focus on communication, therefore after looking back through my sketch book i wanted to incorporate these first ideas into a print. I used a lino cut of the children from the v&A and then carved a new one with a tree trunk and a letter box. This print ties in nicely with combining outside location, V&A and also communication.

This is one of my favourite prints as scale and view point has really been manipulated. I took a drawing from the bedside location and enlarged the teddy bear in comparison to the small child reaching out. Again here I used the technique of directional lines to enhance the reaching moment. I really like the colour choice in this print as I wouldnt normaly put these two shades next to each other but I think they work well.

For my final prints I want to perfect this idea, even with the same lino cuts just create the correct combination of prints and colour. I would like to create a print that represents each location, the V&A, bedside and road side. I would like the prints to focus on scale and contrast. Simple prints with simple composition but effective.
